The Hurricane 4 makes its 332 lb-ft early in the rev range and channels it through the new Gen IV 8-speed automatic, so merges onto Loop 289 with a loaded trailer stay drama-free. Laredo and Laredo X buyers give up nothing on the rating with the 293-horsepower V6.

Jeep's 4x4 menu covers the rest: Quadra-Trac I for all-weather confidence, Quadra-Trac II with a low-range transfer case, and Quadra-Drive II with a rear electronic limited-slip differential. Stability control provides trailer sway damping, and the Quadra-Lift air suspension on upper trims keeps a tongue-weighted tail level.
